We strive to offer the best in fly fishing instruction, covering a wide array of subjects and taught by top notch authors, guides, and experts in their field.

"Quality" should not just describe the equipment you use, it should also be the standard of your education. That is why you will never see more than three students per guide in our on-water classes, why we only allow four students in our tying classes, and why our clinics normally have no more than eight to ten students in attendance. By keeping our class size small we SUPER SIZE your education!

Good equipment can mean the difference between a frustrating first experience or a pleasant day on the water, or time spent at the fly tying vice. For this reason we provide equipment from fly fishing's top manufacturers for your use in all of our classes.

Because of class size limitations we require a 50% deposit when booked. Deposits are fully refundable up to two weeks prior to the class date. Cancellations after that are non-refundable unless we can fill your space in the class.

Deschutes River
Beginning/Intermediate Fly Fishing

This class, by far our most popular, will take you through the steps to becoming a more productive fly- fisher. We start with a two hour in-shop classroom session where you will learn about the tackle, knots, rigging, and essentials needed to catch trout on Western streams, including the Deschutes. The following Saturday or Sunday--your choice--you will meet your guides in Maupin on the banks of the Deschutes river to start the on-river portion of your class. During this eight hour lesson you will learn where the fish live and dine in a stream. You'll also learn how to effectively present a fly to them, take samples of insect life, why we choose specific flies, when to use those flies, how to safely navigate the river, and how to play and land fish.

This class is held every month of the year (except December). Call or e-mail us for the current schedule. Some equipment is available.
