Oregon & Washington June Trout Stocking Schedules

June Stocking Report

June has officially arrived, which means it's time for our monthly update on what to expect and where to fly fish for stocked trout within three hours of Portland.

The stillwater stocking schedule begins to slow down this month, and will pick up again with full steam headed into Labor Day weekend at summer's end. This will also be the final month of active stocking out on the coast. But that doesn't mean there won't be plenty of stocked fish to pursue all around the state. Most waterbodies that have been stocked multiple times throughout the season will continue to fish reasonably well for planted rainbows until mid-summer.

Breitenbush River Fly Fishing

Our local stocked streams, however, are scheduled to receive truckloads of new fish throughout the month of June. Quartzville Creek, the Upper North Santiam River, Breitenbush River and Salmon Creek will all welcome thousands of fish over the next four weeks, providing ample opportunity for young anglers to learn the craft and keep their catch. Stocked trout in these environments tend to bunch up, so once you find a pod it will be game-on for the next few hours!

Trout stocking will still be going strong up on Mount Hood as well, with Lake Harriet, Lake Timothy, Frog Lake and Trillium Lake all on the schedule. Locally, North Fork Reservoir and Estacada Lake are also expected to get thousands of trout this month, offering fast fishing at the end of a short drive for Portland-area anglers.

Low elevation stocking efforts in Southern Washington are essentially done for the summer season, so this month's report focuses primarily on Oregon destinations with a few exceptions. WDFW provides exact stocking dates after the water body is stocked. Simply check the WDFW stocking schedule to confirm. ODFW does not provide exact stocking dates, but rather a range of days. We have provided our own dates next to each Oregon waterbody. On or after those dates, these locations will hold stocked trout and should be fishing well.

Italicized waterbodies were stocked in previous months. Be sure to check last month's stocking schedule to see which waterbodies received fish earlier in the season.
