Fly Tying Classes at NWFFO

Our fly tying classes are taught by Jeff Morgan β€” an accomplished fly tier, guide, and published author with decades of experience tying and fishing Pacific Northwest waters. Jeff's teaching style is practical, approachable, and focused on patterns that actually catch fish locally.

Intro to Fly Tying

A three-week series designed for complete beginners. You'll learn foundational techniques, including thread control, material handling, and how to tie several essential local patterns for trout and steelhead. Each week builds on the last, and you'll have take-home practice to build real muscle memory between sessions. All materials are provided.

For tiers who have completed the intro series or have equivalent experience. Jeff's intermediate class focuses on advanced materials and techniques β€” dubbing loops, complex hackles, and multi-step patterns for trout and steelhead. A natural next step for anyone who caught the tying bug.

What Flies Will You Tie?

Fly tying is not just about replicating store-bought patterns β€” it's about understanding what fish are eating and creating something that triggers a strike. In the Pacific Northwest, that means learning patterns tied specifically for our rivers, hatches, and species.
