Why We Carry Bauer Fly Reels

Bauer revolutionized the fly reel world in 1995 with an award-winning large arbor design that changed how serious anglers think about drag systems. Founder Jon Bauer came from a background in race cars and precision technology, and he brought that engineering mindset to fly fishing with a simple but powerful insight: the best direct drive fly reel minimizes the variance of moment arm effect through a large arbor spool. The result was a reel with vastly improved line handling, retrieval, and drag performance — and a reputation among guides and serious anglers as the “Swiss watch of fly reels.” We carry Bauer because reliability is non-negotiable on the water, and a Bauer reel delivers it every time, in all conditions.

Bauer Fly Fishing Reels

Bauer RVR Fly Reels

The RVR is Bauer’s freshwater series — smooth, precise, and built for the kind of technical fishing where drag consistency matters most. Whether you’re chasing wild trout on a spring creek or running steelhead on a PNW river, the RVR performs without hesitation.

Bauer CFX Fly Reels

The CFX is Bauer’s high-performance series, built for anglers who demand the absolute best in drag performance and durability. Precision machined components, Bauer’s signature zero-backlash drag clutch, and hand assembled in Twin Bridges, Montana — the same town where RL Winston builds their fly rods.
