RL Winston Fly Rods

Why We Carry RL Winston Fly Rods
Winston has been building fly rods in Twin Bridges, Montana since 1929, and in nearly a century of craftsmanship they’ve never wavered from a single principle: do it right or don’t do it at all. Every Winston rod that leaves their shop is a handcrafted work of art — flawless finish, precisely aligned guides, a perfectly formed cork grip, and reel seats machined from the finest components. But Winston rods aren’t just beautiful; they’re exceptional fishing tools. Lightweight, balanced, and smooth in a way that’s immediately noticeable the moment you pick one up. We carry Winston because when our customers are ready to own the finest fly rod available, we want to have it on the shelf.
RL Winston Fly Rod Series
Winston Air Fly Rods
The Air is Winston’s flagship freshwater series — an extraordinarily lightweight rod with a smooth, progressive action that loads effortlessly and delivers pinpoint accuracy. If you’ve ever wanted to fish a rod that feels like an extension of your arm, the Air is it. A benchmark in modern fly rod design.
Winston Boron III Series Fly Rods
The Boron III brings Winston’s legendary boron/graphite construction to a versatile all-around rod that excels in a wide range of freshwater applications. Known for its exceptional feel and smooth power transfer, the Boron III is a favorite among anglers who want Winston performance in a more traditional action.
Winston Saltwater Air Fly Rods
Built for the flats and beyond, the Saltwater Air features Winston’s new stealth matte “Winston Green” finish designed for sight fishing situations where a low-glare rod matters. Hard anodized aluminum reel seats with double lock rings handle the demands of saltwater environments without compromise.
Winston Spey & Switch Fly Rods
Winston’s two-hand lineup brings the same uncompromising craftsmanship to Spey and switch fishing. Smooth, powerful, and beautifully balanced — a Winston Spey rod is a serious tool for serious steelhead and salmon anglers on Pacific Northwest water.
The Winston Difference: Craftsmanship You Can See and Feel
Every Winston rod goes through a proprietary multi-step hand-finishing process in a dedicated finishing room — multiple coats of their signature “Winston Green” finish that provides both stunning cosmetic beauty and critical impact protection for the boron and carbon fiber materials beneath. Once finished and inspected, every section of every Winston rod is hand inscribed with the rod series, length, line weight, and serial number. It’s their way of signing a completed work of art before it ships.

RL Winston Fly Rod Warranty
Winston backs every new boron/graphite and graphite fly rod with their Unconditional Lifetime Guarantee — one of the strongest warranties in the industry. Here’s what you need to know:
- What’s covered: Breakage and manufacturer’s defects for the lifetime of the original owner, purchased through an authorized Winston dealer. Winston will repair or replace the rod at their discretion.
- Registration required: To qualify, the original owner must register the rod online or send in a completed warranty card. Cards can be scanned and emailed to info@winstonrods.com.
- What’s not covered: Lost rods or sections, intentional breakage, misuse, neglect, and cosmetic wear or scratches.
- Finish matching: Winston always does their best to match the original finish, but paint formulas have changed over the years — replacement parts on older rods may have some variance in color.
- How to return: The entire rod must be returned to Winston for all warranty work. Your serial number can be found in the script closest to the cork on the rod.
