Fly Fishing Guide - Zach Carothers

Meet Your Guide: Zach Carothers

Zach Carothers has seen it all, seen a lot. As a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning band, Portugal The Man, Zach toured the world almost nonstop for over 20 years. Performing on every continent, with the exception of Antarctica, and far too many countries to count, Zach would look longingly at the rivers from the window of a tour bus.
Growing up in Alaska, Zach has a deep connection with the outdoors. When the waters of Willow Creek, Little Susitna, and Montana Creek are in your backyard, fishing becomes part of your DNA.

Several years ago, Zach realized that he could play bass and fish on the same day, so he would start every tour with an extra bag that carried his rods, waders, and a selection of flies for anywhere in the world. Touring is hard, and Zach decided it was time to listen to his heart and commit to fishing full-time, starting to guide trips in the Pacific Northwest. Trout, bass, salmon, and steelhead are the target species in the area. Zach is looking forward to getting you out on the water. Experienced and newbies are welcome.

Beyond the River

Zach is still a musician at heart, and no matter how hard he tries, he can't escape it. Music is ingrained in all of us; some are just blessed with the ability to play like Zach. You will still find him playing with various bands and lending a helping hand to those needing a kick ass bassist.
Beyond music, Zach is always helping various non-profits, like Ripple Effect Outreach and The Wilderness Calling Conservation Initiative, to improve the world around him.
