Chase Oregon's Most Unique Trout on the Coast

Join Northwest Fly Fishing Outfitters for an unforgettable sea run cutthroat trout adventure on Oregon's spectacular coast. These powerful, ocean-bright fish offer some of the most exciting and unique trout fishing in the Pacific Northwest.

Three Unique Fishing Experiences

Option 1: Estuary Float Trip

Season: August 1 - October 31
Cost: $600 (1-2 anglers) or $400 per person (3-5 anglers)
Max Group: 5 anglers
Location: Tillamook, OR

Experience one of the most unique guided trout opportunities in Northwest Oregon. Float one of the Tillamook Bay tributaries as an incoming tide brings pods of fresh, chrome-bright sea run cutthroat into the estuary. Early season offers higher volume fishing, while late season is all about trophy-sized fish!

This is highly active fishing involving casting and retrieving streamers on five and six weight rods. Because tides dictate the schedule, only full-day options are available. Watch the water come alive as aggressive cutthroat chase baitfish in the tidal currents.

Option 2: Freshwater Walk & Wade

Season: First fall rains through October 31
Cost: $450 half day, $600 full day (1-2 anglers)
Max Group: 4 anglers

Once the fall season's first significant rains arrive, sea run cutthroat migrate upstream into freshwater environments. Experience fishing for big, fresh sea run cutts in the dense wooded forests of Oregon's Coast Range, on rivers skinny enough to spit across in some places.

We employ a combination of streamer, dry fly, and nymphing tactics on five and four weight rods. The window for this fishing is narrow and conditions-dependent, so dates are limited. This is intimate, technical fishing in stunning old-growth forest settings.

Option 3: Combined Freshwater/Estuary Trip

Season: First fall rains through October 31
Cost: $750 (1-2 anglers)
Max Group: 2 anglers

Experience the best of both worlds with this ultimate sea run cutthroat adventure. You'll spend half your day fishing freshwater environments on foot, and half your day floating the estuary at the turn of the tide. This trip showcases the full life cycle and behavior of these remarkable fish.

Note: This trip can only be run on days with an early or late high tide, so dates are extremely limited. Please contact us to inquire about available dates before booking.

What Makes Sea Run Cutthroat Special

Sea run cutthroat trout are anadromous fish that spend part of their lives in saltwater before returning to freshwater to spawn. They're aggressive, powerful fighters with stunning coloration - silver-bright when fresh from the ocean, developing vibrant orange and red slashes as they acclimate to freshwater.
