Program Structure
In-Store Classroom Session (2-3 Hours)
Build your fly fishing foundation with expert instruction covering everything you need to know:
Gear & Equipment:
- Fly fishing rods and reels explained
- Understanding fly lines and their uses
- Tapered leaders vs tippet materials
- Fluorocarbon vs monofilament line
- Essential gear (floatant, dry shake, hemostats, and more)
Flies & Techniques:
- Understanding different fly types and when to use them
- Fishing techniques: dry flies, nymphs, and soft hackle swinging
- Basic entomology and insect identification
- Matching the hatch for local waters
Fish & Water Knowledge:
- Species identification: trout, steelhead, and salmon
- Reading water to find fish
- Understanding river levels and conditions
- Essential knots every angler needs
Clackamas River Walk & Wade Session (Afternoon/Evening)
